![]() ![]() But also - Nikolai and Zoya are my two favorite characters from the Shadow and Bone trilogy, so I do intend to read King of Scars and Rule of Wolves for them. So yeah, I really liked this! This was honestly such a good ending to Alina's story that I'm a little nervous to start the Nikolai duology. Now, about the ending, since that's apparently a heated topic in the book community. But now that Alina really came into her own and really is a match for the Darling, I just - listen I understand objectively that Mal's the best for her but I WANT AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE WHERE ALINA AND THE DARKLING RULE RAVKA TOGETHER IN VILLAINY ![]() Like their first scene together in this book - HELLO?! Even as a Reylo stan, I never totally got the appeal of Darklina because the power dynamic was so imbalanced. ![]() While I liked that Mal and Alina were endgame, I was also screaming at certain Darklina scenes. It's action-packed, engaging, and you really can tell how much Leigh Bardugo grew as a writer throughout the Shadow and Bone trilogy alone. A great conclusion to the trilogy! I think I liked Siege and Storm just a little better, but Ruin and Rising was honestly a close second. ![]()
